The Falkirk Wheel is celebrating 25 years of the Millennium Link project with an unforgettable evening of light, colour and discovery on Saturday, September 26 at 6.30pm.

Watch as the wheel comes alive after sunset, embark on hidden treks throughout the grounds, uncover immersive light installations and enjoy a captivating water and lights show that brings the iconic landscape to life. Perfect for families, friends, date nights and adventurers of all ages, Illumin8 is a unique after-dark experience guaranteeing awe and exploration of the wheel like never before.

Walk around the site after dusk and discover hidden routes, stop off and enjoy some hot food and sweet treats by the fire, hop to our noughties themed silent disco and enjoy the show. As night falls, the basin of the Falkirk Wheel will be transformed into a stage of water, light and laser effects, bringing the iconic setting to life in a captivating and immersive spectacle. Complementing the show, an enhanced walking trail will guide visitors through the landscape with dynamic lighting.

The Visitor Centre will be transformed into an immersive disco destination, complete with sparkling disco balls, atmospheric fog effects and a vibrant party atmosphere that transports guests straight back to the golden age of 2000s music. There's also additional activities for all ages including glow in the dark mini golf and guided e-boat tours.

Bring the whole family along to Golf It! on Saturday, September 26 for a feel-good day filled with delicious food, family fun and fabulous entertainment. 

As well as Scotland’s best street-food trucks there will be free face painting, free Meet and Greet with Moana & Ariel, free family indoor movies, indoor heated seating, a marquee beer garden, cocktail and mocktails, beer bar, pool tables, crazy golf, Hogganfield Loch, bike hire and driving range.

Food lovers are in for a treat, with everything from log-fired pizza, crispy fried chicken and birria tacos to bao buns, BBQ, Thai fusion burgers and irresistible cakes.

Doors Open Days is returning to Stirling this month as local attractions and landmarks welcomes visitors to celebrate the region’s history, people and heritage.

Over the weekend of Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, visitors are invited to step inside buildings and spaces across Stirling that are usually closed to the public.

As the country’s largest free festival dedicated to architecture, history and culture, Doors Open Days is a national invite to explore Scotland’s built and cultural heritage, and to see it through fresh eyes.

Stirling’s Doors Open Days feature an exciting line-up of venues and events, including the 19th Century historic buildings within Plean Country Park, the historic Leighton Library in Dunblane and a new walking tour of the historic tenement buildings of Stirling city centre.

Each building or site opens not only its doors but also a window into the past, present and future of the community. These are the places where stories were lived, art was created, and history unfolded, with the public invited to step inside during the festival.

September Bank Holiday Market will be running over two days at Loch Lomond Shores from Sunday, 27th September till Monday, 28th September from 10am–4pm.

Enjoy a fantastic selection from regular market favourites alongside guest traders, with artisan gifts, handmade crafts, local produce, delicious food, sweet treats and street food to browse and enjoy. Five of Glasgow’s best-known drinking destinations are joining forces for a major party marking the opening of Glasgow Cocktail Week this September Weekend.

House of Gods, Absent Ear, Kelvingrove Café and Bar Dani will take over Kong on Thursday, 24th September, bringing bartenders and signature cocktails from across the city together under one roof.

Running from 6pm to 10pm, the opening party will feature cocktails created for the festival, sets from some of Glasgow’s best DJs, a dedicated Spritz experience, interactive tarot readings, drink activations, and surprises throughout the evening.

Entry is free exclusively for Glasgow Cocktail Week wristband holders. Wristbands can be purchased in advance at glasgowcocktailweek.com or at the door, subject to availability. First come, first served on the evening.

The party will officially open Glasgow Cocktail Week 2026, which runs from Thursday, 24th September until Sunday, 4th October.

Doors Open Days is the country’s largest free festival that celebrates places and stories, new and old. This September you can explore hundreds of fascinating buildings across Scotland for free.

Some buildings open up once a year, and some just once a lifetime. Edinburgh is opening its doors to the public this weekend to discover iconic historic buildings, hidden heritage and remarkable stories from the capital city.

Camera Obscura & World of Illusions is Edinburgh’s oldest purpose-built visitor attraction. Situated at the top of the Royal Mile it offers five floors of interactive exhibits, rooftop terrace and is home to the Victorian Camera Obscura, once owned by Patrick Geddes. Open all year round, early until late and activities for all ages to enjoy.

Bavaria comes to Aberdeen this September weekend for Oktoberfest at Cheerz nightclub. Expect lederhosen, dirndls, Bratwursts, a live Oompa Band, competitions and games and tasty beer.

The event runs on September 25 and 26 from 7 till 10pm.

The Byres Road Book Festival returns for four days of free author events, live conversations, workshops and family activities will take place across the West End from September 24–27.

Nicola Sturgeon will be among some of Scotland's biggest literary names appearing at Byres Road Book Festival. The first female and longest-serving First Minister will be heading to Glasgow's West End to discuss her memoir Frankly at Òran Mór.

The seventh annual festival will see authors, writers, screenwriters and performers take over venues including Òran Mór, Hillhead Library, Oxfam Bookshop and Glasgow University’s’ Clarice Pears building.

There’s plenty for younger readers too. Award-winning author Maisie Chan will bring her new picture book Chi Chi the Panda to Hillhead Library, with the festival also featuring storytimes, creative workshops and an interactive monster-making session with illustrator Tom Morgan-Jones.
