The A8 has closed in both directions between Newbridge roundabout and Gogar after a crash near the BP garage meaning that airport passengers are unable to access the airport.
Three fire appliances were called to the scene after the crash was reported just before 9.30am this morning.
Drivers are currently being advised to avoid the area, with Edinburgh Airport encouraging passengers flying out of the airport to follow advise issued by Transport Scotland.
Holidaymakers are being advised to follow diversions via the M8 and around via Gogar to access the airport.
