Adam Sinclair has returned to the stage in Scotland for the first time in 27 years after building a successful television and film career in Los Angeles.
The East Kilbride actor is appearing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in An Echo in the Void, a new thriller exploring artificial intelligence, grief, identity and the increasingly blurred boundary between online and real life.
Sinclair trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, before appearing alongside James Corden in Boyz Unlimited.
His subsequent credits have included Mile High, Rizzoli & Isles, 24: Live Another Day and Lip Service, as well as the films To End All Wars and Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy.
Sinclair has spent most of the past 25 years in Los Angeles, where he raised his family with his wife, American film director and producer Michelle Kath Sinclair.
Returning to Scotland to film the BBC drama Gifted allowed him to see how dramatically the country’s screen industry had changed.
He believes new studios and the success of productions including Outlander have given Scotland a growing foothold in international film and television. Glasgow and Edinburgh are now regularly used by major productions, although Sinclair would like to see more authentically Scottish stories brought to the screen.
