Blythe Duff to star in Contact as part of A Play, A Pie and A Pint's Autumn season at Oran Mor

A Play, A Pie and A Pint has announced that renowned Scottish actress Blythe Duff will star in Contact, a new tragicomedy by Jonny Donahoe premiering as part of the lunchtime theatre company’s Autumn season.

Directed by Associate Director Ben Standish, Contact explores generational conflict and why so many choose “no contact” over reconciliation as it depicts a toxic, broken-down relationship between a mother and her adult son.

Blythe Duff is best known for her role as Jackie Reid in Taggart, and her recent stage credits include Small Acts of Love and Wild Rose (The Musical).

Starring opposite her as the son is Mark Barrett, an experienced Glasgow-based actor whose work has placed him alongside actors like James McAvoy and Robert Carlyle.

This is the latest play by Jonny Donahoe, the co-creator of the smash-hit phenomenon Every Brilliant Thing, which recently performed on Broadway with Daniel Radcliffe and received two Tony Award nominations. Contact will be Donahoe’s second play for A Play, A Pie and A Pint following Anna/Anastasia in 2024.

Speaking about the show, Blythe Duff said: “Contact is a beautifully crafted, heart-breaking play with huge laugh-out-loud moments. The perfect mix for the wonderful A Play, A Pie and A Pint audience, who I can’t wait to have lunch with again…I have missed you.”

Contact will run at Glasgow’s Oran Mor from 5-10 October, and will also tour to the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh and Paisley Town Hall.
