Scotland’s best beers and breweries have been revealed, with Peterhead-based Brew Toon taking the top title at the 2026 Scottish Beer Awards.
Breweries from across the country gathered in Glasgow on Tuesday (6 October) as awards were handed out for everything from lagers and IPAs to stouts, sour beers and the growing low and no-alcohol market.
Brew Toon was named Scottish Brewery of the Year, sponsored by BarthHaas, after an impressive showing across the beer categories.
The Aberdeenshire brewery collected four Gold medals, with Wired to the Toon winning Best Strong Beer, Tanfield Export taking Best British Style Ale, Everlasting Tropical winning Best Sour Beer and Weekend Spooker named Best Lager.
Its alcohol-free Unwired to the Toon also won Gold in the Best No Alcohol Beer category.
Williams Bros Brewing Co was another of the biggest winners, taking two Gold medals.
Ginger was judged Best Low Alcohol Beer, while March of the Penguins took the top award in the Best Porter or Stout category.
The Alloa brewery also collected a number of Silver and Bronze medals for beers including Caesar Augustus, Joker IPA, Tin Man, Orange Ginger, Rhubarb Ginger and Craft Lager.
Stewart Brewing picked up two of the major brewery awards, winning Excellence in Branding and Best Beer Destination, sponsored by eKeg.
Its New Relic also took Gold in the Best IPA category, ahead of Stewart Brewing’s own Radical Road in Silver and Williams Bros Brewing Co’s Tin Man in Bronze.
Tennent’s Caledonian Breweries took the top two places in the Best Pilsner category. Tennent’s 1885 Export Lager won Gold, with Tennent’s Bavarian Pilsner taking Silver.
Cross Borders Brewing Company’s India Pale Ale was named Best Session Beer, while BrewDog picked up two Gold medals.
Hazy Jane Tropical won Best Fruit or Spiced Beer, while Krush Test Dummy took the Best Juicy or Hazy Beer title.
The awards also highlighted the continued growth of alcohol-free and lower-strength beers.
Brew Toon’s Unwired to the Toon finished ahead of Stewart Brewing’s Scot Free Pale and Williams Bros Brewing Co’s Joker AF in the no-alcohol category.
Williams Bros’ Ginger won the low-alcohol title ahead of Brew Toon’s St Clements and Tennent’s Tops.
The awards were announced during the Beer Matters Conference at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central.
The event brought together figures from Scotland’s brewing industry for discussions on changing consumer habits, innovation, low and no-alcohol products and the challenges facing breweries.
