Scottish singer-songwriter Cammy Barnes is set to perform at a major Beatson Cancer Charity fundraising event taking place in Glasgow this weekend.
The Fife-born musician has been announced as a special guest for the charity’s new Yellow Yogis event at the SEC on Sunday, 13 September.
Barnes will open the event with an exclusive 15-minute live performance before more than 1,000 people are expected to come together for what organisers hope will be one of the UK’s largest community yoga classes.
The flagship fundraiser is aiming to raise £250,000 for Beatson Cancer Charity’s Wellbeing Centre, which provides support for people affected by cancer.
Barnes, who recently sold out his Scottish tour in just five minutes, will be joined by host Jenny Powell, Still Game actor Sanjeev Kohli and yoga instructor Finlay Wilson, better known as The Kilted Yogi.
The event will bring together movement, mindfulness and live entertainment, with participants taking part in a large-scale yoga session in support of the charity.
Geoff Ellis from DF Concerts, one of the event sponsors, said it was particularly special to have Barnes involved.
“We’ve watched him go on an incredible journey over recent years to now enthralling thousands of fans this summer across various festivals,” he said.
“It will be amazing to have him kick-start the event with a live performance before more than 1,000 people come together to strike several yoga poses to support this brilliant cause.”
Yellow Yogis takes place at Glasgow’s SEC on Sunday, 13 September from 10am until 2pm.
