Scottish synth-pop band CHVRCHES have announced their first album in almost six years alongside a new world tour featuring three dates in Scotland.

The Glasgow-formed trio will release their fifth studio album, All The King’s Men, on 22 January 2027, following their return with new single Roses last month.

Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty will then head out on tour, with Scottish shows at the O2 Academy Glasgow on 23 April, Aberdeen Music Hall on 26 April and Dundee’s LiveHouse on 27 April.

The 11-track album is the follow-up to 2021’s Screen Violence and was written and recorded during a series of intensive sessions in Glasgow.

It marks a return to working together in person after much of Screen Violence was created remotely during the pandemic.

The band have said the new record draws on UK and Scottish music culture and history, with influences ranging from Massive Attack and PJ Harvey to Scottish folk guitarist Bert Jansch and the Incredible String Band.

All The King’s Men includes Roses, alongside tracks including Evil, Adore You, Royal Blue, Conman and Faith In Flying. The official CHVRCHES store confirms the album will be released on 22 January.

Doherty previously described the record as the band’s “most fearless” to date, saying earlier this year that it would still contain the group’s recognisable musical DNA while pushing their sound into new territory.

The album arrives after CHVRCHES took an extended break following touring for Screen Violence.

Mayberry used the time away from the group to launch her solo career, releasing debut album Vicious Creature in 2024, while Doherty formed electronic project The Leaving and Cook worked on other musical projects.

CHVRCHES signalled their return in September with Roses, their first new material in several years.

Mayberry said at the time that the lengthy gap had encouraged the group to challenge themselves rather than repeat what they had done before, describing the new material as their most coherent creative vision as a band.

Before next year’s tour, the trio will play an intimate sold-out homecoming show at Assumption Studios in Glasgow on Monday 26 October, with proceeds going to charity.

Their full 2027 tour begins in Philadelphia on 13 February before travelling across North America and returning to Europe in April.

Tickets for the newly announced tour go on general sale at 10am on Friday 30 October, with a presale beginning on Tuesday 27 October.
