Everything you need to know about Glasgow road closures for The Batman filming
Road restrictions are now in place as cameras are set to start rolling for the filming of The Batman Part II in Glasgow. More than 20 city streets are to face restrictions and closures as Robert Pattinson reprises his role as the caped crusader to transform Glasgow city centre into the gloomy streets of Gotham City. Closures will be in place from August 2 to September 29, with production crews arriving from August 18 ahead of the film’s release in 2028. Directed by Matt Reeves from a screenplay he wrote with Mattson Tomlin based on the DC Comics character Batman, it is the sequel to The Batman (2022) which shot its closing scenes in Glasgow’s Necropolis. Set during the winter after the flooding of Gotham City, Bruce Wayne investigates another case that further explores the corruption and division within the city. Fans are waiting with anticipation to find out which Batman Part II stars will make an appearance in Glasgow. Zoe Kravitz, Scarlett Johansson, Colin Farrell and Sebastian Stan also star in the sequel. Glasgow has been the go-to film location for superhero Hollywood blockbusters in recent years due to its 19th Century Victorian architecture and grid street system similar to major American cities like New York.
