Everything you need to know about Scotland's only mezcal and tequila festival

Scotland’s only festival dedicated to tequila, mezcal and the wider world of agave spirits will return to Glasgow this month with more than 30 brands confirmed to take part.

The Copita Mezcal & Tequila Festival will take over Saint Luke’s in the East End on Saturday 22 August, bringing together producers, bartenders, retailers and drinks fans for a day of tastings, cocktails and masterclasses.

Organisers describe Copita as Scotland’s only celebration of the spirits of Mexico, created to make tequila, mezcal and other agave spirits more accessible while retaining a focus on how they are produced and where they come from.

The 2026 festival will feature more than 100 agave spirits to explore, with visitors given their own tasting copita. There will also be an on-site bottle shop, cocktail bars, six masterclass slots and an afterparty running into the night.

Among the exhibitors confirmed for Glasgow are Ojo De Tigre, Almave, Abasolo, Arette, Vivir, Cazcabel, The Lost Explorer, Convite Mezcal, El Jimador, Sin Gusano, Vespero, Nock Tequila, Whitebox, Pensador, Desdeya and Ocho.

The line-up also includes QQR, Rosaluna Mezcal, San Cosme, Pa’todos Tequila, G4 Blanco, Cashuin Blanco, Terralta Blanco, Rooster Rojo, Madre, Fortaleza, El Tequila, Gritona Tequila, Halisco Margaritas, Selzers & Agave Spirit, Otro Tequila and Bantanga Tequila, as well as Next.

It gives visitors the opportunity to move beyond some of the best-known tequilas and discover smaller producers and different styles of mezcal and agave spirit.

Copita will be divided into two three-hour tasting sessions. The first runs from 2pm until 5pm, followed by a second session from 6pm until 9pm. The afterparty begins at 9pm and continues late. Three masterclasses will be staged during each tasting session.

For the first time, the Glasgow event will also include an outdoor area for cocktails, alongside collaborations with cocktail bars inside the venue.

Visitors will be able to buy bottles they discover during the tastings through an on-site shop operated in partnership with Drinkmonger and Royal Mile Whiskies.

The festival has grown since its launch, with previous Copita events in Glasgow and Manchester attracting more than 2,500 attendees. Organisers say more than 400 spirits have been served across the events, involving more than 60 brands and 20 masterclasses.

More than 800 bottles have been sold and around 4,000 cocktails shaken at previous festivals.

The format is intended to introduce casual drinkers to agave spirits while also attracting bartenders, hospitality businesses, retailers and specialist enthusiasts.

Organisers say the emphasis will be on tasting and conversation rather than simply showcasing brands, giving visitors the chance to learn about production methods, provenance and the people behind individual bottles.
