Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman has tipped his “Slow Horses” co-star and former Royal Conservatoire of Scotland student Jack Lowden to be the next James Bond.
The hunt to replace Daniel Craig is supposedly over, with Oldman throwing his support behind 36-year-old Lowden who has starred in ‘71, Dunkirk and Calibre.
Lowden was born in Essex to Scottish parents, and was brought up in the Scottish Borders village of Oxton. He was enrolled at the Scottish Youth Theatre as a 10-year-old, before going on to attend Earlston High School.
Speaking in an interview with Canada’s The Morning Show, Gary Oldman said: “It’s been rumored that [Lowden] is on the shortlist.
“We’re going to find out pretty soon, aren’t we? Because they have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack.”
It has been confirmed that the next James Bond movie will go into production next year with Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Harris Dickinson also being mentioned in the final running.
Amazon MGM has repeatedly refused to discuss anything about who has or hasn’t been considered for the role.
