A Scot who walked 3,200 miles across America during the World Cup is calling for the nation to come together this St Andrew’s Day to celebrate what makes Scotland great.
Flying the flag for our great nation, Craig Ferguson is urging Scots to unite as he hosts a special celebration at Glasgow’s Òran Mór next month.
Craig’s Tartan Trek saw the inspirational football fan walk a marathon a day in a kilt across an entire continent - from Los Angeles to Boston - ahead of Scotland’s opening World Cup match against Haiti, raising over £1 million for Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH).
Hundreds of Scotland fans singing the national anthem welcomed an emotional Craig as he arrived in Boston Common to the stirring sound of bagpipes.
The heroic effort was a show of true grit and Scottish spirit connecting people from around the world.
Now the Scotland superfan is making it his mission to stir that same passion and pride amongst the people of Scotland as he campaigns for a national celebration to champion what makes Scotland so special.

Posting an inspiring video on social media surrounded by the beauty of the Highlands, the Paisley-born mental health campaigner begs the question: Do we truly come together as a nation to celebrate our proud heritage?
Craig, 22, said: “Scotland, without a doubt one of the best nations on this planet. A wee country that has invented the modern world as we know it. From the ingenuity of our great people to the passion of the tartan army that gripped and caught the eyes of the modern world, we’ve truly left our mark.
“But there’s one thing that we don’t have. A day that we come together as a nation to celebrate all this - or do we?
“Every single year St Andrew’s Day rolls around and us Scots watch it pass us by without much celebration. Well I say this is the year of Scotland, lets change that. And trust me, if there’s one thing we can do as a nation, its have a party. So why should we sit on the sidelines as other countries celebrate what makes them so special, when arguably we’ve got more to shout about than the rest of them.
“This year I’ll be hosting a St Andrew’s Day celebration at the Òran Mór with so many amazing special guests as we come together to celebrate St Andrew’s Day proper. Tickets are only a fiver and we want as many of you there in that room as possible. So lets do this, lets make St Andrew’s Day a proper celebration in Scotland. Get your friends and family together, throw on your kilts and tartans, drink some Irn-Bru or whisky, whatever you want to do to celebrate it.
“Lets make this year the year that we celebrate Scotland and celebrate St Andrew’s. If you agree that St Andrew’s Day should be bigger, come along and be part of history.”
The St Andrew’s Day event runs at Òran Mór on November 29 from 7pm till 1am with live music from Dlù, Valtos, Robbie & Baby G and Rosie Alice.
Tickets cost £5 for the first 100 purchased then will be priced at £10.
