Glasgow’s historic Trades Hall will host a charity Christmas market next month to help feed children living in poverty.

The iconic Merchant City building will welcome the annual Mary’s Meals Christmas Market on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November with proceeds from the event going to the lifeline charity who help feed hungry children.

A wide variety of stalls will be on offer at the seasonal market, providing fantastic gift options for the whole family. Stalls will be run by Mary’s Meals volunteers and a selection of  supporting small businesses from across Scotland.

On sale will be jewellery, art, skincare and Christmas cards, as well as handcrafted items. By shopping at the market, people can find not only the perfect present but also give the gift of hope to hungry children across the world.

Founded in a shed in the Scottish Highlands in 2002, Mary’s Meals provides nutritious meals to more than three million children in 16 countries, including India, Liberia and Mozambique, every school day. The promise of a daily meal encourages children into the classroom, where they gain an education and hope for a better tomorrow.

Doors open at the venue on Glassford Street from 10am on Saturday and 11am on Sunday and close at 5pm, with entry free to all. To guarantee a ticket for the market, visit the charity’s website.

The weekend event will also offer a raffle, tombola, children’s crafting activities and the first ever Mary’s Meals café, serving hot drinks and home-baked delights.

Organisers are hopeful the family-friendly atmosphere will offer something for all ages and help to raise vital funds for the charity.

Ashley McWilliams, Head of Scotland for Mary’s Meals, says: “We are delighted to welcome the local community to our Christmas Market at Trades Hall this November. The event is a wonderful opportunity to start your festive shopping, enjoy a fantastic atmosphere and come together in support of something truly meaningful.

“We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers, stallholders and supporters whose generosity makes this event possible, and we look forward to welcoming new and familiar faces for what promises to be a very special weekend.

“Join us for some festive fun and help Mary’s Meals provide life-changing school meals to children living in some of the world’s poorest communities. Feed a child this Christmas with Mary’s Meals and your gift means more than just food – it’s hope for an education and a better life.”
