Some of the biggest names from Stranger Things, Supernatural, Star Trek and Cobra Kai are heading to Edinburgh this weekend as Comic Con Scotland returns to the city.

Tens of thousands of fans are expected at the Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October for one of the UK’s biggest pop culture conventions.

This year’s guest list includes Stranger Things stars David Harbour, Noah Schnapp, Jamie Campbell Bower and Cara Buono.

Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard join the event.

Star Trek legend William Shatner is among the biggest names on the bill, while Monty Python and Fawlty Towers star John Cleese is also heading to Edinburgh.

Cobra Kai and The Karate Kid fans will have the chance to meet Ralph Macchio, William Zabka and Martin Kove.

Other guests announced for the convention include Smallville stars Tom Welling and Erica Durance, Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Charisma Carpenter and Dexter star Julie Benz.

Sons of Anarchy actors Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates and Mark Boone Jr are also on the line-up.

Scottish actors David O’Hara, whose credits include Braveheart and The Departed, and Glasgow-born Tommy Flanagan will be among those appearing.

Comic Con Scotland has grown into one of Europe’s largest pop culture conventions, with organisers saying fans now travel from more than 40 countries to attend.

Previous guests have included Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Christopher Lloyd, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Matt Smith, Ian Somerhalder and Alicia Silverstone.

Celebrity appearances remain the main draw, with fans able to purchase autographs and professional photographs with guests.

Many of the stars will also appear on stage during the weekend to discuss their careers and take part in fan panels.

Away from the celebrity line-up, the convention will feature cosplay, replica props and set builds, retro and modern gaming areas, artists and traders selling collectibles and merchandise.

Comic Con Scotland takes place at the Royal Highland Centre, beside Edinburgh Airport.

Early-entry and Diamond Pass holders can enter from 9am on Saturday and Sunday, with standard admission beginning at 11am. The event closes at 6pm on both days.

Traffic Scotland has warned roads around the venue are expected to be busier than normal.

The M8, M9 and A720 could all experience additional traffic, while routes around Edinburgh Airport may also be affected.

Visitors are being encouraged to consider public transport or active travel where possible. Parking at the Royal Highland Centre costs £10 per car per day.

Organisers advise anyone travelling specifically to meet a particular celebrity to check the latest guest information before setting off, as appearances can change because of actors’ work commitments.
