Dancefloor legends Hot Chip will headline Glasgow’s SWG3 next year as part of a UK-wide tour to promote their ninth studio album.
A Long Way From Kansas, due for release on January 8, will be showcased at SWG3 Galvanizers on March 8, 2027.
The record has been described as primal with first track Random Violence, a tribute to Optimo DJ JD Twitch, aka Keith McIvor.
The band’s Joe Goddard explained: “Last year in September our old friend and brilliant DJ Keith McIvor of Optimo in Glasgow passed away after a diagnosis of an inoperable brain tumour a few months earlier. He largely inspired the words of the song. He was a passionate music lover and a staunch believer in socialism. Many of the words relate directly to his death and to memories of being in the Sub Club in Glasgow where we met 20 years ago.”
The acclaimed English synth-pop and indie-electronic group consisting of Alexis Taylor, Joe Goddard, Al Doyle, Owen Clarke, and Felix Martin, formed in London in 2000.
Over two decades, they have established themselves as fixtures of the global electronic music scene through acclaimed albums such as The Warning (2006) and Made in the Dark (2008), earning Grammy and Mercury Prize nominations along the way. Following their 2022 album Freakout/Release, the band continues to tour worldwide.
To coincide with the album announcement and to celebrate Keith McIvor’s legacy, Hot Chip took to the turntables with friends at Glasgow’s Sub Club last night (October 21).
Hot Chip will also play 3Olympia, Dublin on March 4, Leeds Beckett Students’ Union on March 6, Albert Hall, Manchester on March 9, O2 Academy, Bristol on March 10 and London’s Exhibition White City on March 12.
Gig tickets go on general sale from October 23 and you can gain access to the pre-sale by ordering the album HERE.
