Enjoy a bumper programme of storytelling-themed free family activities at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh from Monday, 12th October - Friday, October 16th. October Half Term: The Stories We Tell will explore the different ways people of the past and present have kept a record of the world around them, from historical happenings and fantastical myths to local gossip and traditional folktales.
Journey through the many forms that stories can take, from oral storytelling and written tales to stories told through dance, song and objects. Discover the stories that shaped Scotland. And on Wed 14th October there’s a special day of creative workshops for kids.
In East Lothian, the National Museum of Flight will explore How Things Fly on Monday, October 12 - Friday, October 16 with hands-on family activities throughout the week. Build a glider with wings shaped like a real aeroplane, try some popular flying toys from the museum’s toy trolley and watch a 10-minute How Things Fly show.
The National Museum of Rural Life in East Kilbride is all about tatties this half term. Dig into the traditions of the Scottish potato harvest at Autumn Explorers Tuesday, October 13 - Friday, October 16.
