She dreamed a dream that came true on Britains Got Talent over eighteen years ago and now Scotland’s Susan Boyle is realising a new one - after buying a campervan.

And Scottish  News has the first look at its interior.

The 65 year old Blackburn born singer is picking up a Scottish Icon Award at the Guitar Guitar Scottish Music Awards at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom on November 7 and is the star of a new BBC documentary this Hogmanay, after returning to music from having a stroke four years ago.

And she decided to reward her new achievements by purchasing a swish new home on the road.

Susan, who has been taking driving lessons over the last year, revealed her news as she sat by the fire in The Finnieston bar in Glasgow’s West End.

She said: “I’ve just bought a camper van because I wanted to travel a wee bit. I’m going to Pitlochry when I come back for the lights show. Just to enjoy it.

“It’s not really that plush. It’s just an ordinary thing you know. It’s a VW camper van, six seater. It’s very basic, but I  haven’t got it stocked up yet. I’ve just collected it yesterday afternoon. It’s got six berths but what goes on in the campervan stays in the campervan.”

The interior of the campervan has been finished off in style with personally monogrammed cream leather seats and headrests with the letters SB..
Despite the new purchase, Susan admits she’s not yet passed her driving lessons - in fact she

may have given up for the time being after almost crashing into a celebrity trailer.
She explained: “I completed two lessons. The very first lesson will give you a laugh.
I was heading towards this caravan, straight for it. It was part of the Outlander film set.

“I was in a big car park in Stirling and all these guys saw me coming towards them. My manager got me out of the way and they couldn’t believe it. They said knock them dead hen.”

“I’ve put the lessons on the back burner just now. I think I’m dangerous enough.”

Susan laughs as she tells the story and is on sparkling form after being told today that she is also going head to head with Calvin Harris, The Cure and Bring Me The Horizon for one of the UK’s most coveted festival honours after her recent performance at Summers End festival in Angus.

Susan has been shortlisted for Festival Performance of the Year at the 2026 UK Festival
Awards.

Now truly deserving of her Icon title, Susan who also featured her new blonde look in Cornetto and Irn Bru adverts, admits she’s come a long way from her first appearance on Britains Got Talent 18 years ago.

She said: “It’s a very humbling time to be presented with the Icon award at the Scottish Music Awards because it means you have the support of other people, the fans and the public. The Proclaimers are my Scottish icons. They’ve just got great songs.”
