Inver Restaurant and Rooms, a hidden gem on the shores of Loch Fyne in Argyll, has been placed on the market with offers over £275,000 invited for the leasehold business.

The restaurant, near Strachur on the Cowal Peninsula, held a Michelin Green Star for its approach to sustainability as well as three AA Rosettes.

Chef Pam Brunton and her partner Rob Latimer opened Inver in March 2015, transforming the remote lochside restaurant into one of Scotland’s best-known dining destinations.

Set inside a restored former crofter’s cottage and boat store at Strathlachlan, Inver has built its reputation around Scottish produce, with seafood from Loch Fyne, locally raised meat and ingredients gathered from the surrounding landscape forming a major part of its menus.

The restaurant has received widespread recognition since opening. It was named AA Scottish Restaurant of the Year in 2016 and was the Scotland and Northern Ireland regional winner in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants in 2017.

Brunton was later named Chef of the Year in the Good Food Guide 2020.

The Michelin Guide describes Inver as occupying a “beautifully isolated spot” and highlights its use of local and foraged ingredients, including mackerel caught in the loch and tea grown nearby in Tighnabruich.

The sale also includes Inver’s accommodation operation, which has helped establish the restaurant as an overnight food destination.

The business has four contemporary eco-bothies and two shepherd’s huts overlooking Loch Fyne and the ruins of Old Castle Lachlan. The package also includes two yacht moorings, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, dining areas, terrace and full premises licence.

According to the sales particulars, the business operates under two concurrent leases running until 2035, while the two shepherd’s huts are owned by the business and sit on leased land.

The listing for the business states: "An opportunity to take your culinary excellence to an Award Winning remote and tranquil waterside restaurant on the shores of Loch Fyne and Lachlan Bay. A business which celebrates Scotland’s larder and set in a restored croft, alongside eco-bothies and shepherds huts all overseeing the ruined Old Lachlan Castle. The business developed over the last 10 years by our clients and now possessing a Green Michelin Star and 3 AA Rosettes, Inver is recognised across the UK as one of the finest examples for food sustainability and eco-responsibility and is listed in many worldwide restaurant guides."

Inver had been developed over the past decade into a business recognised across the UK for its approach to food sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The location and combination of the restored croft, accommodation and views across Loch Fyne helped make a visit to Inver part of a wider experience.

Inver remains open and taking bookings, with its website currently advertising lunch and dinner services as well as stays in its waterside rooms.

The restaurant is around an hour and a half by road from Glasgow and sits on the B8000 south of Strachur.

The sale marks the first time the award-winning business has been offered on the market since Brunton and Latimer established Inver more than 10 years ago.
