The Mains Farm Shop proposal comprises a new farm shop and café situated on Strathaven Road, designed to deliver a high-quality rural destination that supports the local economy.

 

The café and shop, with an external seating area and car park, would operate as a family-run farm business managing agricultural and retail activities.

 

The farm shop plans to sell eggs and milk from the farm, frozen and packaged butchered meat, frozen ready meals, gifts and cards and  flowers and bedding plants.

 

According to East Renfrewshire Council planning papers, a long-established local farmer, “with strong local ties” has lodged the plans.

 

Plans state that the applicant is committed to delivering a development that will provide “a meaningful and sustainable addition to the village, enhancing local provision while reinforcing its rural character”.

 

Careful consideration has been given to the siting, scale and design of the proposal to minimise landscape and visual impact.

 

The development has been conceived to sit comfortably within its rural context, maintaining the character and openness of the landscape while creating an authentic and accessible countryside destination.

 

A public consultation is currently open for residents to have their say until August 12.
