A popular London restaurant specialising in freshly hand-pulled Chinese noodles has opened its first Scottish branch in Glasgow.
Noodle Inn Glasgow welcomed its first customers on Byres Road in the city’s West End on Friday, 4 September.
The restaurant has taken over the former Topolabamba premises at 116-122 Byres Road, bringing a concept that has expanded rapidly across London to Scotland for the first time.
Noodle Inn is best known for its hand-pulled noodles, which are prepared in front of customers in an open kitchen.
Its menu is inspired by Chinese street food and includes its signature Biang Biang noodles, slow-braised beef short rib noodles and a selection of Chinese burgers, dumplings, wontons and other small dishes.
The company describes the restaurants as offering a theatrical dining experience, with customers able to watch chefs stretching and pulling fresh noodles by hand.
Noodle Inn began with a restaurant on Old Compton Street in Soho in September 2024 and has since opened restaurants at Liverpool Street and Covent Garden. Its London expansion is continuing with further restaurants planned for Angel and Battersea Power Station.
The Glasgow opening represents its first restaurant outside London. The company has previously said that individual Noodle Inn restaurants can have slightly different menus, with the Glasgow branch expected to introduce specials alongside dishes already familiar to London customers.
Noodle Inn’s official website lists a second Scottish restaurant as “coming soon” at 8 Morrison Street in Edinburgh, close to Haymarket and the city’s West End.
