The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning as parts of Scotland are to be hit with 70mph winds.
Western parts of the Highlands, the Inner and Outer Hebrides are to be affected with the strong winds with the weather warning being in place from 10am on Wednesday until 7pm.
It is likely that Ullapool, Portree and Stornoway will be the main locations affected by the strong southwesterly winds with gusts of between 50mph and 60mph. They could reach up to 70mph in exposed coastal areas and on hilltops, with the winds expected to ease off into the afternoon and early evening.
The CalMac ferry between the mainland and the Outer Hebrides is likely to be disrupted with people advised to plan ahead with any journeys.
The Met Office said: “Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.”
