Scotland weather: Areas set to reach 28°C as temperatures soar this week
Temperatures could reach 28C in parts of Scotland this week as a spell of warm summer weather moves across the country.
The Scottish Borders are expected to see some of the highest temperatures, with Galashiels forecast to reach around 27C on Wednesday before climbing to 28C on Thursday.
Glasgow is forecast to reach around 26C on Wednesday, with similarly warm conditions expected on Thursday. Current forecasts also put Edinburgh at around 26C on Wednesday and Thursday.
Perth is forecast to reach 26C on both Wednesday and Thursday, according to the latest Met Office forecast, with sunny intervals expected.
Conditions will be cooler further north and towards the west coast.
Aberdeen is forecast to reach around 21C on Wednesday before temperatures rise to approximately 23C on Thursday. Inverness could reach around 26C on Wednesday before becoming slightly cooler on Thursday.
The warmest weather is therefore expected across central, eastern and southern Scotland, while western areas and the islands are likely to experience more cloud and lower temperatures.
Forecasts reported for Fort William put the maximum at around 22C, while Stornoway could remain closer to 18C with rain showers.
The warmer weather comes after a mixed start to August for many parts of Scotland.
Temperatures are expected to fall again towards the end of the week, with Glasgow currently forecast to drop to around 20C on Friday and Edinburgh to around 21C.
The change means Thursday 13 August could be the warmest day of the week in parts of southern Scotland, with the Borders currently looking particularly well placed for the highest temperatures.
