Irvine singer-songwriter Abbie Gordon is emerging as one of Scotland’s most promising young pop talents, combining sharply observed lyrics with memorable melodies and a beguiling live presence.
The 19-year-old began writing songs at an early age, inspired by Taylor Swift and the idea of a solo female artist performing her own material. Her first experience of the stage came through dance and musical theatre, which helped her develop the confidence that now informs her live performances.
Gordon began taking songwriting more seriously in 2020, teaching herself piano and guitar while developing a sound influenced by pop, indie and rock. Alongside Swift, she has cited Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Inhaler, Amy Winehouse, Radiohead and Jeff Buckley among the artists who have shaped her approach.
After building her reputation at grassroots venues and festivals, Gordon headlined Glasgow’s King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut while still only 17. She also appeared at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and supported other emerging Scottish performers.
Her breakthrough year arrived in 2026. Debut single Out Of Wine was followed by Bottlemouth, Wet Rain and The Pavement, establishing Gordon as a confident new voice in Scottish pop. The Pavement, an infectious song about the awkward aftermath of a breakup, attracted growing attention on streaming platforms.
