Texas will embark on a major UK and Ireland arena tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their landmark album White on Blonde as the Glasgow band return with a new single filmed in the Scottish Highlands.

Sharleen Spiteri and the band will mark three decades since the release of the multi-million-selling record with an 11-date tour in October 2027, before continuing with some European dates.

The shows will see Texas perform songs from White on Blonde alongside hits from across a career stretching back almost four decades.

The tour includes a homecoming show at Aberdeen’s P&J Arena on 15 October and Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on 21 October.

Fellow Glasgow band Del Amitri have been confirmed as special guests on the UK and Ireland dates, with pre-sale beginning at 10am on Wednesday 28 October.

The tour will also visit Newcastle, Belfast, Dublin, Leeds, Cardiff, Brighton, London, Manchester and Birmingham before heading into Europe for shows in Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Lausanne, Lyon and Madrid.

Texas will also celebrate the anniversary with a special reissue of White on Blonde, due for release on 5 February 2027, almost exactly 30 years after the original album arrived.

Sharleen Spiteri confirmed the tour in an interview yesterday as the band unveil new music in the shape of Another Way To Cry.

Its accompanying video has a particularly strong Scottish connection, with Spiteri joined by Trainspotting and The Full Monty star Robert Carlyle for a cinematic film shot in the Scottish Highlands.

The pair have been friends for decades and previously worked together when Carlyle directed the video for Texas hit Say What You Want in the 1990s.

Another Way To Cry also points towards the next chapter for Texas, with the band working on a new studio album.

The anniversary celebrations, however, will put the spotlight back on the record which transformed Texas into one of the UK’s biggest bands.

White on Blonde was released on 3 February 1997 and went straight to number one on the UK Albums Chart.

It went on to spend six weeks at the top and produced a remarkable run of five UK Top 10 singles: Say What You Want, Halo, Black Eyed Boy, Put Your Arms Around Me and Insane.

The album became one of the biggest-selling records of the band’s career and helped turn Texas from an established rock group into international pop stars.

It has sold more than four million copies worldwide and was certified six-times platinum in the UK.

The success marked an extraordinary second act for a band which had already enjoyed a major breakthrough eight years earlier.

Talking about their continuing success, Sharleen said: “I think it tastes sweeter than it ever has. The honest truth is that when we did that Glastonbury a couple of years ago, you never know how it’s going to go, but that Glastonbury changed everything. Suddenly there was a whole new audience that wanted to see Texas and we announced that tour off the back of that.

“It just was a moment of, ‘Wow, people really do still want to see us.’ When you look out into that audience, the ages vary all over the shop. It’s quite extraordinary.

“There’s been lots of people going, ‘When are you going on tour?’ so it’s good that there is still that desire to see us, and for us, that just makes the desire to go and play even stronger than it’s ever been.”

Texas formed in Glasgow in 1986, with Spiteri, Johnny McElhone and Ally McErlaine among the musicians who would become central to the group’s story.

Their debut single I Don’t Want a Lover became an international hit in 1989, but it was White on Blonde which propelled them to a new level of commercial success.

Texas followed it with another number one album, The Hush, in 1999, while songs including Summer Son and In Our Lifetime extended their run of hits.

The band have continued recording and touring, releasing Hi in 2021 and The Muscle Shoals Sessions in 2025.

Tickets for the tour go on general sale 30 October. More information is here.
