After Hours: We Can Be Heroes is a one-night-only celebration of music and fashion inspired by V&A Dundee exhibitions David Bowie: On Tour and Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show.
V&A Dundee will open its doors after hours for a one-night-only evening of music performances, DJ sets, installations, karaoke, pop-up bars and late-night access to exhibitions.
After Hours: We Can Be Heroes will celebrate the work of contemporary designers and musicians whose work is inspired by fashion, music, performance, the history of the catwalk and the late David Bowie.
Lizzie Mayland and Aurora Nishevci from the Brit-Award winning indie rock band The Last Dinner Party, whose electrifying performance style draws inspiration from their shared love for Bowie, will perform a DJ set. The Last Dinner Party guest curated a display for the opening of the David Bowie Centre at V&A Storehouse in London last year that illustrated how Bowie continues to inspire generations of artists to ‘stand up for themselves and their music’.
Scottish songwriter, model and V&A Dundee Ambassador, Lucia Fairfull, will return to V&A Dundee to perform a one-of-a-kind musical offering with her band Lucia & The Best Boys off the back of their major autumn shows at The Barrowlands, Band on the Wall and Islington Assembly Hall. Lucia Fairfull opened Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show as the face of the exhibition’s marketing campaign earlier this year.
On Friday 6 November, V&A Dundee will transform into a late-night venue offering a completely unique museum experience. The exhibitions will be open throughout, including free access to the museum’s ticketed exhibition Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show and the opportunity for guests to see David Bowie: On Tour.
Tickets are now on sale for V&A Dundee’s next After Hours event on Friday 6 November following last year’s sold-out Night Garden.
