The scenic harbour town of Kirkcudbright will be lit up this Saturday for a magical festival to mark the beginning of autumn. 

Kirkcudbright Autumn Festival is a one-day celebration in the Dumfries and Galloway town featuring lantern and light displays around the town, a community lantern parade and spectacular fireworks show.

Known as ‘Scotland’s Artists’ Town’, Kirkcudbright was once home to a large community of renowned painters and creatives in the 19th and 20th centuries.

It is home to a castle, tollbooth, historic houses, a gallery of national importance and picturesque harbour. 

Visitors are invited to go along and soak up the vibrant atmosphere in the autumn light.

The Autumn Festival builds up during the week with lantern making, unique shops, galleries and cafes to visit, culminating with the lantern parade you can join followed by a fireworks display on the Saturday night (October 3).

There will also be a tabletop sale in the Parish Church Hall throughout the day from 1.30-6pm with trinkets and goodies for sale.

Join the parade at Soaperie Gardens with your lantern at 7.30pm, followed by a fire eating display and fireworks at 8.30pm.
