One of Scotland’s best-loved comedy shows is making the leap from the small screen to one of the country’s biggest venues tonight.
Two Doors Down Live opens at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro tonight (Friday 25 September), bringing the residents of fictional Latimer Crescent together for a new story performed in front of thousands of fans.
The arena production takes the characters out of the suburban living rooms familiar to viewers of the BBC comedy and recreates Eric and Beth’s home on the Hydro stage.
The first performance begins at 7.30pm, with further matinee and evening shows tomorrow and Sunday.
Demand has been strong enough for another five performances to be scheduled at the Hydro from 9 to 11 October.
The live show brings back the regular Two Doors Down characters for a new story centred around a gathering at Eric and Beth’s house.
Ian and Gordon have called everyone together for a big announcement, prompting speculation among their neighbours over whether it could involve a new career, a trip abroad or wedding plans.
Christine has developed another obsession, Alan and Michelle are preparing for a big night out, while Colin and Cathy are predictably looking for a party.
Ian and Gordon’s eventual news takes the neighbours by surprise – before Eric and Beth reveal an unexpected announcement of their own.
The live production features familiar faces from the television series including Arabella Weir as Beth, Alex Norton as Eric, Elaine C Smith as Christine, Doon Mackichan as Cathy, Jonathan Watson as Colin and Grado as Alan.
Two Doors Down began life as a BBC one-off Hogmanay special in 2013 before being developed into a full television series.
Set in the fictional Latimer Crescent in suburban Glasgow, the comedy follows long-suffering couple Eric and Beth Baird as their neighbours repeatedly descend on their house.
Much of its comedy comes from the increasingly uncomfortable gatherings in Beth and Eric’s living room, particularly when Cathy and Colin or the outspoken Christine arrive uninvited.
The series developed a loyal audience during its run and became one of BBC Scotland’s most recognisable comedies.
Tonight’s performance starts at 7.30pm, with doors opening at 6.30pm. The show is scheduled to finish at around 9.40pm.
There are two performances on Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
Two Doors Down Live then returns to the OVO Hydro for another five performances from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October.
Tickets are priced from £36 to £81.95 including the venue administration fee.
