A major new indoor play centre modelled on a Finland park will open to the public this week.
SuperPark Glasgow is a 30,000 sq ft multi-activity, multi-generational indoor park, packed with body powered games within three different play zones.
The new venture, located inside Renfrewshire’s Braehead Shopping Centre, will officially open on Thursday, August 27, becoming the UK’s first SuperPark and United’s 29th park across the globe.
The indoor leisure and recreation concept, founded in Finland in 2012, has parks stretching from Finland, to the Middle East, Asia and Australia.
The “activity wonderland” is for children aged over three, including their parents, who can actively join in the games and activities alongside their kids.
SuperPark offers more than 30 interactive and inclusive activities inspired by football, gymnastics, dance and freestyle sports.
In a VIP ceremony on Friday, Harry Nimmo, the Honorary Consul of Finland to the UK, carried out ribbon-cutting duties and welcomed local families, dignitaries, media representatives and community groups, together with Jonathan Doherty, Managing Director of SuperPark Glasgow, and Superpark United Founder, Juha Tanskanen, who flew in from Finland.
Scott Smith, from Hamilton, General Manager of SuperPark Glasgow, said: “It’s been our pleasure today to give the children that came along with their parents an amazing early preview of what SuperPark Glasgow has to offer. They’ve tried out lots of different games and pieces of equipment, already choosing some of their favourite activities.
“We look forward to welcoming them back – no doubt with their friends - when the park opens in September,” he said, adding that SuperPark Glasgow “has a brilliant selection of party packages available for parents interested in holding a birthday party at SuperPark in the coming months.
“What’s different about SuperPark Glasgow is that when parents go online and fill in one of our party enquiries forms, one of our team members gets straight back to them to give them more information and handle their enquiry personally. We put a high emphasis on excellent customer care.”
Situated next to Frasers Plus Braehead’s Restaurant Complex, SuperPark Glasgow is accessible from both the ground and first floors, with lift access available. Its seven days a week opening times are 12 noon till 8pm on weekdays, with weekends 9am till 9pm.
Its food and drinks offering comes from Scran+ Roadie, the popular Glasgow café headed up by Chris Mears, which has opened a second outlet in SuperPark.
