Four Scottish restaurants have been awarded new AA Rosettes, with three Glasgow venues among the latest additions to the prestigious restaurant guide.

The Bothy, Lennox and Atlantic Bar and Brasserie in Glasgow have all secured one AA Rosette, alongside the Lime Tree Hotel in Fort William.

The awards appear in the AA Guide’s latest September update and recognise restaurants which inspectors believe stand out for the quality and consistency of their cooking.

The Bothy, tucked away on Ruthven Lane in Glasgow’s West End, has received its first Rosette following an AA inspection.

The Scottish restaurant is led by head chef James McDonald and serves a menu built around seasonal produce, with dishes including Shetland scallops, haggis and Scottish venison.

General manager Jaimi Mullen said: “To receive an AA Rosette is a huge honour for the whole team.

“Everything we do starts with the incredible produce Scotland has to offer – and to have the inspector recognise that sense of place in our cooking means a great deal.”

The latest update also brings recognition for Lennox on Byres Road.

The restaurant, created by Glasgow chef Nico Simeone, opened in the city earlier this year after the former Six by Nico site was transformed into the new concept.

Its menu focuses on sharing plates, handmade pasta and dry-aged meat, and the Glasgow restaurant has now entered the AA Guide with one Rosette.

Atlantic Bar and Brasserie on St Vincent Place has also received its first Rosette.

The city centre restaurant specialises in French-inspired cooking and is led by head chef Michael Lawson, with classics including beef bourguignon forming part of its menu.

Outside Glasgow, the Lime Tree Hotel on Achintore Road in Fort William has also been newly awarded one AA Rosette.

Its Silly Goose restaurant serves Scottish produce from its Highland base overlooking Loch Linnhe, and has now been added to the AA Guide at Rosette level.

The AA Rosette scheme has been running since 1956 and marks its 70th anniversary this year.

One Rosette is awarded to restaurants which the AA says prepare food with care, use good-quality ingredients and demonstrate cooking standards which stand out in their local area.

One and two Rosettes can be awarded following an inspection, while the more prestigious three, four and five-Rosette awards are announced separately.

The AA is due to reveal its latest three, four and five-Rosette restaurants at its annual Hospitality Awards in London on Monday night.
