The opening of a giant new Wetherspoons in Edinburgh city centre has been delayed until next year.
The William Chambers, which is taking over the former Revolution bar on Chambers Street, had been due to welcome its first customers on Tuesday 3 November.
Wetherspoon has pushed back the opening by almost three months, with the pub scheduled to open on Tuesday 26 January 2027.
The new date was confirmed by a spokesman. It is the latest change to the timetable for the much-anticipated new pub.
The William Chambers had originally been expected to open on 27 July before the launch was moved to November.
Wetherspoon bought the former Revolution premises at 30a Chambers Street after the cocktail bar closed in August 2024.
The B-listed building is close to the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh University and the city’s Sheriff Court.
Plans for the venue show a capacity of 485 people across the ground floor and basement.
The premises are being reconfigured to create what planning documents described as a traditional Wetherspoon-style operation.
The pub will be called The William Chambers after the Scottish publisher and politician who served as Lord Provost of Edinburgh between 1865 and 1869.
Chambers and his brother Robert established the publishing company W&R Chambers, while William was also involved in major improvements to Edinburgh’s Old Town during his time as Lord Provost.
The new pub will add to Wetherspoon’s existing Edinburgh venues, which include The Standing Order on George Street, The Booking Office at Waverley Bridge and The Caley Picture House on Lothian Road.
Customers hoping to visit The William Chambers will now have to wait until after Christmas and New Year.
