A new red panda has arrived at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s (RZSS) Highland Wildlife Park, joining a female red panda at the attraction’s new habitat.
One-year-old male Flyn has joined three-year-old female Priya, with keepers hopeful the pair could eventually breed and welcome cubs.
Flyn is already settling into his new surroundings, with visitors able to spot the young red panda climbing high into the trees and exploring his new home.
Keepers say his personality is beginning to shine as he becomes familiar with the habitat and his new surroundings.
The new arrival is part of ongoing conservation efforts by RZSS, which works to protect threatened species and support breeding programmes in zoos and wildlife parks.
Red pandas are native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China, but their numbers in the wild have declined significantly due to habitat loss and other threats.
Visitors to Highland Wildlife Park can now keep an eye out for Flyn and Priya as they settle into their new home, with hopes that the pair could play an important role in the future of the species.
