Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has announced the sale of Brechins Bar in Govan.
Dating back to 1798, making it one of the oldest licensed premises in the area, the building originally housed Cardell Hall, a meeting place associated with the Rechabites, a temperance organization that promoted abstinence from alcohol.
Occupying a prominent position on the south side of Govan Road in the district of Govan, the pub is well-positioned to attract local residents as well as visitors to Glasgow.
Brechins Bar features an island servery serving a wide selection of drinks surrounded by a spacious interior and is renowned for being a Glasgow pub where the building, local folklore, whisky history, and Govan heritage all come together in one place.
Brian Sheldon, Regional Director – Hospitality at Christie & Co, who is managing the sale process, commented, “We are delighted to sell the Brechins Bar on behalf of the Cameron family. Brechins is a traditional community pub steeped in history and is one of the oldest pubs in Glasgow.
“This further demonstrates that the market for the sale of ‘pubs’ remains strong even with the current headwinds and challenges that operators are facing.”
Brechins Bar was sold at an undisclosed sum.
