There’s nothing quite like being chased through a dark corridor by someone carrying a chainsaw to make you question your life choices.

That was just one of the experiences waiting for me at Scotland’s Scream Park at M&D’s, where Halloween is taken to a whole new level.

Located at M&D’s Scotland’s Theme Park in Motherwell, the annual fright attraction transforms the venue into a horror-filled playground, with terrifying mazes, live actors and plenty of unexpected scares.

From the moment I arrived, there was a real Halloween atmosphere. The screams coming from inside the attractions were enough to make me wonder what I had signed myself up for, while eerie lighting, creepy characters and the sounds of people being frightened set the scene.

But the real fun begins when you step inside.

Scotland’s Scream Park is designed to put your nerves to the test, with horror-themed experiences that throw you into the middle of the action. You never quite know what is waiting around the next corner, and even when you think you are prepared for a scare, something always seems to catch you off guard.

The live actors are a huge part of what makes the experience so good. Their commitment to the characters helps bring each terrifying setting to life, making it feel as though you have stepped straight into a horror film.

There were moments when I genuinely wanted to turn around and head straight back out, but that is all part of the fun.

What makes the experience stand out is the balance between genuine jump scares and the excitement of going through it with other people. One minute you are laughing at your friends’ reactions, and the next you are the one screaming.

It is not for the faint-hearted, but if you love Halloween, horror films or simply want to try something different this autumn, it is an experience worth putting on your list.

By the end, I was relieved to have made it through, but I also wanted more. The atmosphere, the actors and the sheer unpredictability of the scares made it a brilliant night out.

Scotland’s Scream Park is a must for anyone looking to get into the Halloween spirit.
