A new destination for vintage clothing and second-hand fashion has opened in Rag & Bone in Finnieston’s Hidden Lane, offering shoppers a curated collection of designer labels, classic tailoring and one-off statement pieces.

Moxie is based in The Yard Rooms, a new retail space inside Rag & Bone. The two-floor store is already known for its collection of antique furniture, vintage interiors, art and collectables.

Founded in 2007 by broadcaster, publicist and lifelong fashion devotee Heather Suttie, Moxie stocks womenswear, menswear, jewellery and accessories. Every item is hand-selected by Heather and Moxie’s new colleague, Gillian Welsh for its design, quality and wearability.

The collection includes preloved designer clothing from Vivienne Westwood, Celine, Aquascutum, Biba, Jaeger, Levi’s and Ralph Lauren, to original vintage pieces from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

Shoppers can expect beautifully cut coats, classic tailoring, denim, sportswear, sequins and statement pieces designed to be worn rather than saved for a special occasion.

Heather said:  “We’ve sourced and sold vintage through pop-ups for many years, so finding a permanent home in Rag & Bone in The Hidden Lane feels like the right next step. Every piece earns its place on the rail.”

Moxie opens during Oxfam’s Second Hand September campaign, which encourages people to buy pre-owned clothing instead of new for the month. The campaign promotes longer use of existing clothes and challenges the culture of disposable fashion.

Heather added: “Buying vintage and preloved clothing lets you build a wardrobe with far more personality. You can find better fabrics, stronger construction and pieces that have already lasted for decades.

Peter Green, founder of Rag & Bone, said: “As soon as we saw Moxie’s archive collection, we knew we wanted Heather and Gillian to bring that colour, texture and personality into Rag & Bone.Moxie is our dedicated vintage clothing dealer and fits perfectly with what we are creating in The Yard Rooms — a place where independent businesses can offer pieces you won’t find everywhere else’.

Moxie will introduce fresh vintage and preloved clothing drops every week, giving customers new rails and themed edits to browse throughout the season. Private shopping events, late-night openings and special collections are also planned.

Peter added: “The Yard Rooms mark an exciting expansion for Rag & Bone. From October, we’ll also stay open until 8pm every Thursday, giving people more time to visit, browse and enjoy everything the space has to offer.”
