The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) has been named Best UK Conference Centre at the prestigious M&IT Awards.
Widely regarded as the Oscars of the meetings and events industry, the SEC saw off competition from Liverpool Experience Campus, ExCeL London, and ICC Wales to take the award.
The venue has an impressive track record in the M&IT Awards, winning several gold awards, most recently in 2019 and 2022, and bronze or silver awards every year since 2020. The awards are voted for by event organisers, pulling on direct feedback from clients who have worked with the SEC and experienced first-hand what it’s like to host an event at the venue.
The 2026 awards were presented in September at the Grosvenor Hotel in London by comedian, Katherine Ryan alongside James Lancaster, Editor of AMI (Association Meetings International) Magazine.
It proved to be a night of double celebration for the city of Glasgow at the awards, as Glasgow Convention Bureau was also named Best UK Convention Bureau, a title it has now held for 20 consecutive years.
The SEC win caps a standout year for Scotland’s leading conferences and live events venue, which has hosted a string of major international gatherings including the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre’s flagship cybersecurity conference, “CYBERUK 2026”, the ERA (European Renal Association) Congress 2026, which brought more than 10,000 delegates to Glasgow and Scottish Renewables’ major industry event, Offshore Wind Conference 2026.
In 2026 the SEC Conferences Team has also secured several world-renowned events for the coming years, including the International Congress of Mathematicians, which will be held in Glasgow for the first time in 2030. This comes at a time when the market is highly competitive with organisers able to choose from convention centres, hotels and other specialist venues.
The win also reinforces the strength of Glasgow as a destination for business events with organisers choosing the city because of its accessibility, accommodation and visitor experience.
