Susan Boyle has been spotted in New York for the first time in sixteen years and American fans are thrilled that she is back in the States.

Boyle, wearing pink and sporting her newly styled blonde bob, appeared relaxed and in high spirits during the visit as she wandered the streets of the Big Apple alongside a friend who was dressed in head to toe double denim and a black baseball cap.

The pair held hands as she embarked from a ferry. The visit marks Susan’s first time in the US since having a stroke in April 2022, and it comes after she cancelled a trip over to Boston in June of this year to appear at David Yarrow’s World Cup Party.

Onlookers were thrilled to see the singer who shot to stardom on Britain’s Got Talent, as she enjoyed some of the tourist spots in the city. One said: “We had to look twice because we’ve not seen Subo over in the USA for a while and she seems to be ageing backwards. She seemed very happy to be in New York.”

Her audition became one of the defining moments in the history of the show and launched a recording career which turned the singer from Blackburn, West Lothian, into a global star.

Warren has written hits for some of the biggest names in music, including Cher, Aerosmith and Celine Dion.

Boyle said in June: “I’ve been in the recording studio doing a couple of things for Diane Warren.

“I hope to go over to LA sometime to see her. It’s in the pipeline, but I’ll take my time.”

Her public profile has increased significantly during 2026 following several years in which she largely remained away from the spotlight.

She appeared in advertising campaigns for Irn-Bru and Cornetto during the summer and has spoken openly about recovering from the stroke she suffered four years ago.

Boyle revealed that the illness had affected her speech as well as her singing but said she had recovered from most of its effects.

She said: “I was seriously ill but I’m back on it now. They couldn’t shut me up for long enough!”
