A teenager has been arrested in connection with the death of a 21-year-old man following a disturbance in Glasgow city centre.
Police Scotland confirmed a 19-year-old man was arrested today (7 October) as officers continue to investigate the death of Daniel Colrain.
Emergency services were called to Royal Exchange Square at around 3.05am on Sunday following reports of a disturbance.
Colrain, 21, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he died on yesterday. Police confirmed on Wednesday evening that a 19-year-old man had now been arrested in connection with Daniel’s death.
A second 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the disturbance at the time and was later released pending further enquiries. Another man, aged 21, was also assaulted during the incident and sustained minor injuries.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with that assault and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.
Detective Inspector Jonny MacKinnon, of Greater Glasgow CID, previously said officers were carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding Daniel’s death.
He said: “Our thoughts remain with Daniel’s family and friends at what is an extremely difficult time for them.”
Police have also established a dedicated online portal where information about the incident can be submitted anonymously.
Officers have appealed for anyone with information who has not already spoken to police to come forward.
