Tennent’s is returning to its roots with the launch of a new pint that will give Scotland something to ‘stout’ about as it marks the return of a style of beer that formed the cornerstone of the brand’s story almost three centuries ago.
Tennent’s Stout, a rich, smooth and creamy new stout, is set to start pouring this autumn, with fans able to get a first taste at Glasgow’s Oran Mor pub and Tennent’s Visitor Centre this week. Brewed to 4.0% ABV, Tennent’s Stout delivers a rich roasted character with hints of chocolate, liquorice, treacle and coffee. A moderate bitterness and smooth, creamy finish create a sessionable serve that can be poured in one or two parts without affecting the taste or appearance.
What’s more - the only way to try this rich, smooth and creamy stout is exclusively in the pub, where it is served in a brand-new, unmistakenly Tennent’s glass with the iconic red T sitting proudly within bold STOUT lettering.
The origins of the new drink hitting the taps harks back to 300 years ago, when Wellpark brewed Stouts that saw Tennent’s establish itself as the world’s largest bottled beer exporter. While today Tennent’s is best known as Scotland’s favourite lager, stout was once the heart of the Glasgow brewery, with kegs being produced in 1740 - years before a certain Irish drink burst onto the scene.
Today, Tennent’s still brews Export Stout for markets overseas but with demand for darker beers showing no signs of slowing, the brewer is now honouring its stout legacy with a modern revival.

Tennent’s Stout is available for customers in Oran Mor and in the Tennent’s Visitor Centre from 8th September, and will be rolling out in pubs across Scotland from the end of September.
