Scottish singer Cammy Barnes has reached a major career milestone with two sold-out nights at Glasgow’s legendary Barrowland Ballroom.
The Fife singer-songwriter played the first of his two headline shows at the famous Gallowgate venue last night (Thursday 24 September) and returns to the stage tonight.
Both nights have sold out as Barnes continues a remarkable rise which has taken him from playing small venues and working as a barber in Fife to performing on some of Scotland’s biggest stages.
The 36-year-old, from Methil, has previously spoken about spending 20 years trying to establish himself in music.
Barnes told the BBC last month: “I’m 36 now. It has taken me 20 years to get to playing the main stage of festivals.
“Twenty years of absolute hustle, of not selling gigs.
“Most normal people would have quit and done something else.”
The Barrowland shows represent another milestone, with Barnes now selling out one of Scotland’s most celebrated live music venues on consecutive nights.
It follows a memorable summer for the singer.
Barnes performed at TRNSMT in Glasgow and Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in the Highlands before appearing in front of a global television audience at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony at the OVO Hydro in August.
Barnes first attracted a wider national audience when he reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent in 2023.
His career stretches back considerably further. After studying theatre and electrical courses at Fife College, Barnes worked as a barber and opened his own shops in Methil and Anstruther while continuing to pursue music.
He also spent eight years touring internationally with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers after previously appearing in the Black Watch theatre production.
His solo career has gathered momentum in recent years, with several singles reaching the UK Top 20 and number one positions on iTunes singer-songwriter and country charts.
Barnes has also supported fellow Scottish singer Tom Walker and previously sold out Glasgow’s King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.
The two Barrowland concerts form part of a busy run of Scottish dates for Barnes.
He is due to play Loreburn Hall in Dumfries on 10 October, Fat Sam’s in Dundee on 16 October, Strathpeffer Pavilion on 17 October and Aberdeen Music Hall on 18 October.
Most of those shows have also sold out or are close to capacity as Barnes builds towards the next stage of his career.
Tonight’s second Barrowland show begins at 7pm.
