End of an era as local Paisley jeweller announces closure after 117 years

A much-loved Paisley jewellers has announced that the business will close after 117 years. 

McLauchlan Jewellers which is found on New Street in the Renfrewshire town opened in 1909, will close their doors at the end of December 2026 when current owner Craig retiring. 

A statement read: “After 47 years dedicated to the family business, Craig is stepping down and retiring, bringing an end to an incredible chapter for McLauchlan Jewellers.

“Craig has devoted his working life to the business, following in the footsteps of his father, from whom he took over in 1991.

“He has been proud to continue the family tradition that began in 1909, when his great-grandmother Kate first opened the shop on Paisley High Street, serving generations of customers ever since.

“Sadly, this also means that the journey of McLauchlan Jewellers will come to an end after 117 years in business, with the shop officially closing its doors on December 31, 2026.

“To mark this final chapter, we are holding a 25 per cent retirement sale across all stock, including diamonds, gold, silver, watches and clocks.

“Most importantly, we would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to all of our loyal customers who have supported us throughout the years.

“From first purchases and special occasions to family milestones and cherished gifts, it has been an honour to be part of so many of your lives.

“Without your continued support, McLauchlan Jewellers would never have reached this incredible 117-year milestone.”
