Fatboy Slim, James and Amy Macdonald have been announced as the three headliners for Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in 2027.

The Highland festival will return to the Belladrum Estate near Beauly from Thursday 29 July to Saturday 31 July, with organisers promising one of its biggest editions yet.

James will headline the opening night before Fatboy Slim takes over the main stage on Friday and Scottish singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald closes the festival on Saturday.

The appearance will mark Fatboy Slim’s first performance at a Highland festival in 14 years.

The DJ and producer, whose real name is Norman Cook, has a long association with the area through RockNess.

He helped launch the Loch Ness festival with a huge 20,000-capacity show in 2006 before returning to headline in 2008 and 2010 and appearing as a special guest in 2013.

His Belladrum appearance will therefore mark something of a Highland homecoming after more than a decade away.

James also have unfinished business at the festival.

The Manchester band had been due to headline Belladrum in 2026 but were forced to pull out on the day of their performance after frontman Tim Booth lost his voice.

Razorlight were moved up the bill to replace them, with Scottish singer-songwriter Cammy Barnes subsequently stepping into Razorlight’s original slot.

James will now return almost exactly 20 years after they first headlined Belladrum in 2007.

Amy Macdonald completes the trio of headliners and will have an anniversary of her own to celebrate.

The Bishopbriggs-born singer first appeared at Belladrum in 2007, during the early stages of a career which would go on to make her one of Scotland’s most successful recording artists.

Her 2027 performance will take place just one day after the 20th anniversary of the release of her breakthrough debut album This Is The Life.

The record produced hits including Mr Rock & Roll and the title track and went on to enjoy major success across Europe.

Macdonald returned to Belladrum as a headliner in 2010 and appeared again for the festival’s 15th anniversary in 2018.

Festival organisers said she has remained one of the most frequently requested artists in audience surveys.

Belladrum festival producer Dougie Brown said: “We said earlier this summer that we had booked our biggest headliner ever, and it’s been incredibly difficult keeping this one quiet.

“To finally reveal Fatboy Slim alongside two other incredible headliners in James and Amy Macdonald feels pretty special – three very different artists, but each with an incredible connection to our audience.

“This is only the beginning – we think 2027 is going to be a very special weekend.”

Demand for next year’s festival was already strong before the headliners were revealed.

Belladrum’s allocation of Early Bird tickets sold out in around 16 minutes when they were released following this summer’s event. The equivalent allocation had taken around 48 hours to sell the previous year.

The 2026 festival came within around 1,500 tickets of selling out, with Belladrum now welcoming up to 24,500 festivalgoers per day.

It represents a significant expansion from the festival’s beginnings in 2004, when Belladrum launched as a one-day event attended by around 2,000 people.

More artists for the 2027 festival will be announced in the coming months.
