Sunday lunch is becoming a four-legged family affair at Glasgow’s recently opened Anderson’s pub.

As the King Street venue teams up with Barklove, Glasgow’s dedicated festival for dogs and dog lovers, to launch The Good Dog Roast, a specially created £8 Sunday roast is giving pampered pooches their very own place at the table.

To celebrate the launch on Sunday 22nd November, Anderson’s and Barklove will host a special event from 12pm to 3pm, bringing a taste of the popular dog festival to the city centre pub. Dog owners are invited to enjoy a traditional Sunday lunch alongside their furry friends, with a dedicated roast for their canine companions and dog-friendly acoustic music adding to the afternoon’s atmosphere.

Founded by Jenn Nimmo-Smith, Barklove burst onto Glasgow’s events scene in 2025 with its debut festival at SWG3, returning for a second edition in July. More than just a day out for dogs, Barklove brings together the city’s passionate dog-loving community for a celebration of everything canine, from independent pet brands and unique shopping experiences to expert-led wellbeing, interactive activities, art and entertainment.

The menu has been created by Anderson’s Head Chef Inesa, who brings experience from Michelin-starred Angler to the newly opened pub’s kitchen. Inesa has applied the same care to the Good Dog Roast as to the rest of the Sunday menu, with quality Scottish ingredients cooked simply with an elevated and unique twist.

Priced at £8, the dish features tender slow-roasted beef, sweet potato mash, roasted carrots and fresh greens, finished with dog biscuits and served alongside a fresh bowl of water. Prepared without the seasoning and gravy found on the traditional Sunday menu, the roast offers dogs their own version of the much-loved British classic.

Meanwhile, owners can enjoy Anderson’s signature Sunday menu, featuring the Sirloin Roast (£20) and Lorne Wellington (£20), both served with mash, roasted potatoes, glazed carrots, greens, Yorkshire pudding and gravy.

Inesa said: “Sunday roast is one of those meals that brings everyone round the table, and for a lot of our guests that includes their dog every week. We wanted to create something that feels like a traditional roast, made with the same care as everything else coming out of our kitchen, just made for pups. It’s been a lot of fun to cook – and we’ve had no complaints from our taste testers.”

The collaboration comes as Barklove gears up for a busy festive season, with Barklove Barket making its debut at BAaD on Tuesday 8th December, from 6pm to 10pm, bringing together Glasgow’s dog-loving community for an evening of festive shopping and Christmas fun for dogs and their owners. Full details of the event will be announced soon, alongside further festive events at venues across the city.

Barklove’s flagship festival will also return to SWG3 in 2027, with details of next year’s festival to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Jenn Nimmo-Smith, Founder of Barklove, said: “Barklove has always been about bringing people and their dogs together and creating experiences they can enjoy side by side. We’re delighted to be teaming up with Anderson’s to bring something a little different to Glasgow’s Sunday lunch scene. Dogs are such a big part of our lives, so why shouldn’t they get to enjoy a Sunday roast too?

“We’ve got lots more planned, with a series of Christmas events coming to venues across Glasgow and Barklove returning to SWG3 in 2027. We’re looking forward to sharing what’s next very soon.”

Tables for the launch day and for Sunday roasts can be booked here. Anderson’s is also taking festive bookings from Wednesday 25th November until Thursday 24th December 2026.
