Westfield St James Quarter announces 2026 Christmas light switch-on

Westfield St James Quarter is set to officially kick off the festive season on Saturday 7 November, with Forth 1 favourites Boogie and Arlene leading the Christmas light switch-on at Register Square from 5pm.

The much-loved radio duo will help mark the start of Christmas at the Edinburgh destination, with visitors invited to join the celebrations and experience the moment the Quarter is transformed for the festive season.

This year, the Quarter will also welcome a traditional Santa Claus, bringing a touch of Christmas nostalgia to the light switch-on celebrations.

The celebrations will kick off with a festive parade through Westfield St James Quarter, followed by a lively programme of entertainment in Register Square. Visitors can look forward to appearances from Santa and Mary Claus, cast members from The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh’s production of A Christmas Carol, Hobbit, the World Champion Beatboxer, dancers and live musicians, all bringing festive magic to the heart of Edinburgh.

The excitement will build as Boogie and Arlene take to the stage for the much-anticipated Christmas light switch-on, marking the start of the festive season at Westfield St James Quarter.

Throughout the Christmas period, Westfield St James Quarter will be filled with festive entertainment, seasonal experiences and Christmas magic, creating a lively destination for visitors throughout November and December.

Westfield St James Quarter will once again support Cash for Kids Mission Christmas as its charity partner, with opportunities for visitors to support the charity and help make Christmas brighter for children and families across the local community and beyond. The destination will be a donation point for guests looking to donate gifts to help children who might otherwise wake up without a present on Christmas Day.

After the Christmas light switch on, Boogie & Arlene will sweep through the Quarter, collecting gifts from brands who have generously donated to the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas cause.

Anne Ledgerwood, Estates Director, Westfield St James Quarter, said: “Christmas is such a special time of year in Edinburgh, and we’re looking forward to bringing the festive season to life at Westfield St James Quarter.

“Having Boogie and Arlene join us to officially switch on the lights will be a fantastic way to start the celebrations, and we’re excited to welcome visitors to Register Square to commemorate the switch on.

“From our Christmas light switch-on to the festive entertainment taking place throughout the Quarter over the coming weeks, there will be plenty of opportunities for families, friends and visitors to enjoy the magic of Christmas at Westfield St James Quarter.”

The parade and Christmas light switch-on entertainment will take place from 5pm, on Saturday 7 November, with festive activity continuing throughout Westfield St James Quarter across the Christmas period.
